Founding and Evolution
Origin: Registered on April 15, 1949 as Koppa Taluk Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited. Reorganized on January 24, 1959 into Agricultural Produce Marketing Co-operative Society.
Purpose
Helping farmers get fair prices for areca nut, coffee, and paddy. Providing loans, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and essential goods.
Major Milestones
Silver Jubilee (1974β75): Rice mill (3000T capacity). 1976: Cloth department. 1979: 1000T warehouse. 1980β1987: Distribution centers at Lakvalli, Kammaradi, Agumbe.
Organizational Impact
Eliminated middlemen, strengthened rural economy, provided credit and fair distribution systems.
Infrastructure Growth
1989β1991: Meeting hall (H.M. Mallappa Memorial Hall). 1994: Kammaradi branch building. 1997β1998: Commercial complex.
Economic Contributions
Supported agriculture pricing, modern rice mill, 16+ locations with multiple departments.
Leadership Recognition

Members store crops like areca, paddy, and coffee. Annual turnover is around βΉ6.40 crores.

A self-governing institution built by members, ensuring independence and sustainability.

Provides staff training and supports student education (SSLC, PUC, Degree programs).
6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives
